Marc Hennerici rewarded for a spectacular chase

Third overall position in Blancpain Endurance Series 2012

After the brilliant victory of the ProSpeed Porsche 911 GT3 R in the fifth race of the Blancpain Endurance Series (BES) at the Nürburgring, Marc Hennerici, Marc Goossens and Xavier Maassen travelled to the BES-Final in Navarra (Spain), in order to defend the recently achieved third overall position in the championship.

However, this could hardly be expected after a very difficult qualifying-session. Due to various problems with the set-up the Porsche GT3 R of the ProSpeed Competition team came in on a disappointing 21-st place only.

The foundation for the later final result was set by start driver Marc Hennerici. Hennerici made a lightning start from position number 21; after the very first round he had already been on position 12. Due to excellent overtaking manoeuvres, he could hand over his Porsche at the end of his stint to Xavier Maassen in 6-th place. Maassen was able to defend the position very well and turned over the steering wheel to Marc Goossens. At that time, the race management decided upon a 35 minute safety car phase due to a heavy cloudburst in Navarra; the race eventually had to be stopped even five minutes before the actual end. At this stage, the ProSpeed Competition trio ranked on a very good fifth place overall. Thus, the team was in front of their keenest competitors in the BES-table and succeeded in defending the third rank in the championship.

Marc Hennerici: “A result that feels like a victory – great! Considering the difficulties we had during the course of the season up to now, this could not be expected. “

Dr. Hugo Koch, his manager, added: “Today‘s performance of Rudi Penders’ and Luc Goris’ entire team has been outstanding. The fast pit-stops in particular have been a major contributing factor to this success. Mo-we-ko Motorsport Management is proud to be able to cooperate with such a professional team. “

On 27 October 2012 will Marc Hennerici will compete again on Porsche in the final race of the VLN season at the Nürburgring. Hopefully, Timbuli Racing will be able to reach the podium again.
